When replacing equipment or components, complete drawings are sometimes not available, and getting good measurements are difficult or impossible while the unit is in service. Equipment is manufactured based on the best information available.
When the new equipment or component is being installed, early verification of critical dimensions will allow more time to correct any deficiencies. Mechtell can provide this early heads-up by taking measurements of mating features during the initial disassembly phase of the project. We can then do a virtual fit up and check critical dimensions.
Mechtell uses photogrammetry to measure larger components especially if there are important mating features on two or more sides. Sometimes we will use a laser tracker if there are a lot of small features to be measured. Our software allows us to position measured components together to determine how well they are going to fit.
